At Aveda, self-care is a big part of our mission and we’ve been on the wellness train since our founding in 1978. Finding your balance, whether that’s at the spa, meditating, exercise or just doing a face masque, is so important in our increasingly busy lives. Lately we’re seeing more people leaning into the self-care movement, which is a wonderful thing! The more we share what works for us with each other, the more people will realise how important self-care is and put their own wellness routines into practice. Studies show reducing your stress can make you feel happier and healthier overall. When we feel less stressed and focus on living in the moment, we have a greater sense of well-being. If any of this resonates with you, we have a few suggestions to guide you on your self-care journey!
One of our favourite ways to practice self-care is with a little help from (you guessed it!) Aveda aromas. You may know about Shampure’s calming aroma or the invigorating burst that comes from Rosemary Mint, but did you know about our Essential Oils and Chakra Balancing Pure-Fume Mists? They can enhance your personal wellness practice in simple, beautiful ways. Here’s how!
AROMATHERAPY IS IN SESSION
If you’re not sure which Essential Oil is your perfect match, here’s what we recommend. Visit an Aveda store near you and experience each of them. You may connect with some and not be in the mood for others; that’s your senses giving you a helpful nudge in the right direction! Once you’ve found an Oil or two you love, take them home and start incorporating them into your routines.
To calm down: Lavender, Vanilla and Patchouli Essential Oils are known to help calm your senses and ground you. If you need help falling asleep, pick your favourite and use it for a relaxing scalp massage before bedtime. You can also add a few drops to your bath, or mix with an unscented body moisturiser to infuse your skin with aroma after you shower. It sounds simple, but those quiet moments of touch and aroma can really make an impact to your daily routine.
To pep up: Need a boost on your way to the gym or in the middle of your work day? Bergamot, Peppermint, Tangerine and Eucalpytus are known to help perk up your senses. Apply a few drops to your skin before your workout to enliven your senses. At your desk, put some Essential Oil on your wrist and inhale deeply for an easy, instant pick-me-up. After a hard workout or a long day of yard work, massage your tired feet and relax with a refreshing oil. (We like Bergamot and Peppermint.)
BALANCE YOUR CHAKRAS
According to Ayurveda, the ancient healing art of India, we’ve all got seven chakras, and they are believed to impact our well-being. Sometimes, though, certain chakras can become blocked, making you feel unbalanced. (If you’re curious and want to learn more about chakras, head over to our Mister Chakra page for more info!)
If you’re unfamiliar with our Chakra sprays, you can take an aroma journey at any Aveda retail store, or do it online with Mister Chakra. Just like the Essential Oils, you may discover that you really connect with one aroma blend and not with another. Maybe you’re vibing with Chakra 7, an earthy blend of angelica, elemi and olibanum; that could mean you need a little help balancing your “third eye,” the intuition chakra. Each one has been expertly blended by our master Pure-Fumers to help you connect with yourself and find your balance.
